A RESOLUTION

Designating a portion of SR 101 in Paulding County as the John D. Smith Highway; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, from 1900 until his death, John D. Smith lived and raised an outstanding family in the Concord Church Community of Paulding County; and

WHEREAS, John D. Smith was known and loved throughout the community as a good Christian man and community leader; and

WHEREAS, many generations of his descendants have lived within 1/2 mile of the Smith homeplace and have made numerous contributions to the economic, social, and religious lives of their community; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that the contributions of John D. Smith and his family be properly recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that SR 101 in Paulding County from Harmony Road at the Concord Baptist Church southward to the Carroll County line is hereby designated as the John D. Smith Highway.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and directed to erect and maintain signs so identifying such highway.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Department of Transportation.
