Senate Resolution
916 By: Senators Hamrick of the 30th, Kemp of the
46th, Harp of the 16th and Dean of the 31st
A RESOLUTION
Commending Toma S. Omonuwa as a University System of Georgia
Outstanding Scholar on Academic Recognition Day; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Toma S. Omonuwa is the State
University of West Georgia Outstanding Scholar for 2004, having attained the
distinction of earning the highest grade point average and representing
excellence in academic achievement and personal development;
and
WHEREAS, Academic Recognition Day was begun in
1987 as a celebration of individual academic achievement and recognition of
those students who exemplify that which is best about the University System of
Georgia and its institutions, the commitment to excellence in scholarship, and a
lifelong quest for knowledge and understanding;
and
WHEREAS, the 34 institutions of the University
System of Georgia are valuable resources for the people of this state, enhancing
the intellectual, economic, social, civic, and cultural well-being of the
communities in which they are located and the entire state;
and
WHEREAS, Georgia´s higher education system
is dedicated to the goal of providing quality education to all and fostering the
realization of each person´s fullest potential, and it is most appropriate
to honor the Outstanding Scholar at each
institution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Toma S. Omonuwa as
the State University of West Georgia Outstanding Scholar for 2004 and convey
their congratulations and best wishes.
BE IT
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to
transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Toma S. Omonuwa.
