Senate Resolution

A RESOLUTION
Commending the City of Buchanan on its new municipal
building; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the City
of Buchanan held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its beautiful new municipal
building on January 24, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Charles
Carter, former councilman for over 30 years who was the driving force behind the
new building, was given the honor of cutting the
ribbon;
WHEREAS, in November 2002, city employees
moved from the old City Hall facility into the spacious 6,000 square foot
facility one block away; and
WHEREAS, in addition
to City Hall, the new municipal facility also houses the Buchanan police
station, a public meeting room, offices for the City Clerk and Assistant Clerk,
Mayor, Chief of Police and Lieutenant, and City Council, and provides several
storage areas, and all city council meetings and city court have moved from the
historic courthouse into the new building;
and
WHEREAS, the new municipal building will serve
well the City of Buchanan employees and
citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SENATE that the members of this body commend the City of Buchanan on its new
municipal building and extend their most sincere best wishes for great success
in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate
copy of this resolution to Jerry Hood, Mayor of the City of Buchanan.
