A
RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of William Lewis "Bill" Chandler; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on January 2, 2005, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most
distinguished citizens with the tragic and untimely passing of William Lewis
"Bill" Chandler; and
WHEREAS,
this exceptional individual exhibited outstanding leadership in all of his life,
including his service to this state and nation, having served in the United
States Coast Guard, working for Southeastern Rubber Manufacturing Company for 29
years, serving as a member and chairman of the board of directors of the Bank of
Danielsville and Century South Bank for more than 30 years, having been
instrumental in the organization and building of St. James United Methodist
Church in Athens, and having been a member of the Ila Baptist Church, the Athens
and Madison County Rotary Clubs, and a member of the John H. Jones Masonic Lodge
in Danielsville; and
WHEREAS,
his unparalleled organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his acute sensitivity to the needs
of the citizens of his community and state earned him the respect and admiration
of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
the untimely passing of this generous, kind, and devoted man leaves an
unfillable void in the hearts and lives of his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of
William Lewis "Bill" Chandler.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
William Lewis "Bill" Chandler.
