House Resolution 1209

A RESOLUTION

Remembering and honoring the life of Mr. Charles R. Frierson, Jr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Charles "Charlie" R. Frierson, Jr., was a native of Gainesville born on April 13, 1926; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Frierson was a graduate of Gainesville High School and of The Georgia Institute of Technology who served his country honorably as a staff sergeant in the United States Army in World War II, after which he had a distinguished career with Frierson-McEver Company culminating in his presidency of the business; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Frierson was an invaluable member of his community, as demonstrated, among many laudable activities, by his faithful service to First Presbyterian Church, his leadership in the Jaycees, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club, his work for Gainesville-Hall Resource including his serving as director of the Gainesville-Hall 1996 Olympics Roundtable and Merchandising, and his membership in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Auxiliary, for which he and his wife chaired the Love Light Campaign; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Frierson leaves behind his loving and devoted family, including his wife of 55 years, Joanne Moore Frierson; his daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Bruce McAllister and Carol and John Thurman; his son and daughter-in-law, Chip and Leslie Frierson; his grandchildren, Brian and Elizabeth McAllister Coates, Meg McAllister, and Charlie McAllister; and his sister, Martha Frierson Walker; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia lost a most estimable citizen on July 16, 2005, with the passing of Mr. Charles R. Frierson, Jr.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mr. Charles R. Frierson, Jr., and extend their most sincere condolences to his family.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Joanne Moore Frierson.
