RESOLUTION
Commending
Bernard Catchings; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Bernard Catchings has long been recognized by the citizens of Mitchell and Baker
counties for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep
personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as
evidenced dramatically by his record of over 30 years of superlative service as
a member of the Mitchell and Baker County school systems where he served as a
teacher, administrator, and mentor; and
WHEREAS,
his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the
citizens of his community have earned him the respect and admiration of his
colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished senior gentleman has given inspiration to many through his
high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow man, and he possesses the
vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character
which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life;
and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and, by the example he has made
of his life, he makes this world a better place in which to live;
and
WHEREAS,
on January 19, 2005, he enjoyed the rare distinction of celebrating his
ninetieth birthday, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding
accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately
recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Bernard Catchings for his over three decades of efficient,
effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service; congratulate him upon the
occasion of his birthday; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for
continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bernard
Catchings.
