RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life of and expressing regret upon the passing of Henry Washington "Buddy"
Wallis Jr.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Buddy was born on April 1, 1950, to Henry Washington "Washie" Wallis, Sr., and
Lois Tanner Wallis; and
WHEREAS,
he graduated from Gainesville High School in 1969; and
WHEREAS,
after a brief stint in the United States Army, he returned to Gainesville to
work with his father in the Wallis Asphalt Company; and
WHEREAS,
upon his
fatheŕs
death in 1972, Buddy assumed the presidency of the company; and
WHEREAS,
as was his custom, he worked very hard and successfully ran the company until he
sold it in the late
1980́s;
and
WHEREAS,
concurrently with his ownership of Wallis Asphalt, Buddy began a lifelong
partnership in B and A Construction with his cousin and closest friend, Andy
Wallis; and
WHEREAS,
he was an original director of Lanier National Bank, which is now known as
BB&T in Gainesville; and
WHEREAS,
Buddy married Patty Nalley, the love of his life, on May 3, 1975, and they had
three children, Henry, Eleanor, and Logan; and
WHEREAS,
he was always willing to help others when the need was there; and
WHEREAS,
Buddy loved golf, cowboy boots, Bonanza reruns, his leather chair, his cats, and
heavy machinery, and he loved his work, his friends, and, most of all, his
family.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body honor the life of Henry Washington "Buddy" Wallis, Jr., and express
sincere regret at his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to his wife,
Mrs. Patty Wallis.
