RESOLUTION
Remembering
and honoring the life of Verla T. Smith; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on May 29, 1935, Mr. Verla T. Smith was born to loving parents Loyal T. and
Jonnie Sanders Smith in Stephens County, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Smith received his
bacheloŕs
degree from the University of Georgia and enjoyed a rewarding career as a
forester; and
WHEREAS,
he was also a successful and much admired businessman and owner of Enota
Associates in Gainesville, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Smith, a member of Habitat for Humanity, Gideons, and the Gainesville Lions
Club, was a dedicated and active member of his community and of both Lakewood
and Riverbend Baptist churches where he taught Sunday school classes to
eighth-grade boys for more than 40 years; and
WHEREAS,
he was a faithful husband to Mrs. Barbara Smith, a devoted father, and a beloved
grandfather; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Smith leaves behind a wealth of loving friends and family who will remember
his great strength of character; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia lost a most estimable citizen on January 13, 2005, with the
passing of Mr. Verla T. Smith.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of
Mr.Verla T. Smith and extend their most sincere condolences to his
family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Verla T. Smith.
