A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Eric Massey; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, after a rigorous selection process, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Division selected Mr. Eric Massey as the 2003 Volunteer Hunter Education Instructor of the Year; and

WHEREAS, this award is presented annually to an instructor who displays outstanding volunteer efforts in educating sportsmen and women on wildlife conservation and the importance of hunter safety; and

WHEREAS, the efforts of the volunteer hunter education instructors are essential to protect the citizens of the State of Georgia and its natural resources; and

WHEREAS, in 2003 alone, Mr. Massey instructed more than 74 hours of hunter education classes and certified 295 students; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Massey has displayed exemplary dedication to his students, sharing new ideas with other instructors and incorporating new strategies into his own classes such as inviting a guest speaker who had lost his leg in a hunting accident to emphasize safety to his students; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Massey is especially involved with youth events, such as the National Wild Turkey Federation JAKES Day, where he shares his love of the outdoors and promotes his message of responsibility, safety, and conservation with younger generations.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in recognizing Mr. Eric Massey, 2003 Volunteer Hunter Education Instructor of the Year, for his outstanding advocacy of hunter safety and wildlife conservation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Eric Massey.
