RESOLUTION
Remembering
and honoring the life of Bob Bryan Cathey; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Bob Bryan Cathey was born in Asheville, North Carolina, to loving parents
Harmon Harrison and Carolyn Mason Cathey and was a resident of Gainesville,
Georgia, since 1951; and
WHEREAS,
during World War II, he served his country with honor and courage as a member of
the United States Marine Corp; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Cathey was a highly respected and successful businessman who owned and
operated the Cathey Furniture Company for more than four decades;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Cathey was also a community leader who served as director of the Chamber of
Commerce and was a member of the Gainesville Elks Club and the Gainesville
Kiwanis Club; and
WHEREAS,
he was devoted to the First Baptist Church where he faithfully served as deacon
and was a member of the Anglers Sunday school class; and
WHEREAS,
he will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a man of great character
and great kindness who was often seen in the stands at his children and
grandchildren's baseball games, which he enjoyed so much; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Cathey was a wonderful father and grandfather and a beloved husband to Mrs.
Peggy S. Cathey; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia lost a most estimable citizen with the passing of Mr. Bob
Bryan Cathey.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mr.
Bob Bryan Cathey and extend their most sincere condolences to his
family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Bob Bryan Cathey.
