RESOLUTION
Commending
Rita Thomas; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Rita Thomas is a distinguished Georgian and an outstanding citizen of the City
of Clarkston, where she has dedicated her tremendous knowledge and experience to
assisting others and has significantly improved the quality of life for her
fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS,
she has demonstrated her dedication to her community through her enduring
service on many local committees and boards, including service as a member of
the City of
Clarkstońs
First Downtown Development Committee, vice president for "Image Clarkston,"
member of the board of directors of the Clarkston Community Center, member of
the DeKalb County Greenspace Board, member of the City of
Clarkstońs
Planning and Zoning Commission, chairperson of the
Clarsktońs
2005 Elections Committee, and member of the City of
Clarkstońs
Beautification Committee; and
WHEREAS,
her commitment to the community is further demonstrated by her leadership in
establishing the "Friends of Friendship Forest" Committee, her representation of
the City of Clarkston in negotiations with refugee services organizations, her
work in conducting the first Candidates Forum, and her efforts to mentor
citizens who seek to become active in local political concerns; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Thomas is a loving mother and grandmother and a devoted wife;
and
WHEREAS,
she emulates the characteristics of a true leader and has been a devoted
community advocate, making the City of Clarkston a better place to
live.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend Rita Thomas for her distinguished effort on
behalf of the citizens of the City of Clarkston and convey to her their respect
and admiration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Rita Thomas.
