RESOLUTION
Commending
Police Chief Charles R. "Dino" Richardson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Charles R. "Dino" Richardson served with distinction and honor as Chief of the
LaFayette Police Department from 1979 until 1996, after having begun his career
with the department in 1973; and
WHEREAS,
Chief Richardson was promoted to the Director of Public Safety for LaFayette,
Georgia in 1996 and in this position directs the Police and Fire Departments and
Drug Task Force; and
WHEREAS,
Charles R. "Dino" Richardson served his country honorably in the United States
Navy from May of 1967 until February of 1971; and
WHEREAS,
his exemplary career included the receipt of many honors, awards, and
recognitions, including a Letter of Commendation for Life Saving Award, the 1977
Officer of the Year Award, the Meritorious Honor Award, and a Letter of
Commendation from the Department of Justice; and
WHEREAS,
in 1982 Dino Richardson spearheaded an investigation that resulted in one of the
largest drug seizures in the southeast; and
WHEREAS,
Charles R. "Dino" Richardson has devoted his life to serving those in need by
active participation in community charitable organizations such as the Special
Olympics, Optimist Club, and the Shop with Cops children's Christmas program;
and
WHEREAS,
his life serves us all as a model of dedicated service, hard work, and
integrity; and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting and proper that his life of public service be recognized by
this body.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Charles R. "Dino" Richardson for his lengthy career as a law
enforcement officer and for his many contributions to the welfare of his
community, state, and nation.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Charles R.
"Dino" Richardson.
