RESOLUTION
Commending
Ian Vickery on becoming an Eagle Scout; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ian Vickery of Boy Scout Troop 36 in Dahlonega, Georgia, has earned the rank of
Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS,
a candidate for this most exceptional award in scouting must earn 21 merit
badges, 12 of which are mandatory for the Eagle Scout program; and
WHEREAS,
his Eagle Scout service project was to build a Reflection Sitting Garden at the
Memorial Park Cemetery in Dahlonega, providing a tranquil place for visitors to
the cemetery to rest and reflect; and
WHEREAS,
only one scout out of 97 ever reaches this lofty level of achievement, and Ian
Vickery has ably demonstrated his aptitude and competency in mastering the many
special skills taught through the Boy Scout program; and
WHEREAS,
Ian Vickery has truly exhibited a commitment to the scouting principles of
honesty and fairness and has consistently conducted himself in a manner becoming
of an Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS,
in a world which all too often seems to dwell on the negative aspects of the
actions of our youth, it is especially fitting and proper for this body to
recognize the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary young
man.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Ian Vickery for his diligence and dedication in pursuing the
highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts of America and congratulate him on
attaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ian Vickery.
