RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and expressing gratitude to Dr. John Teddy Holloway on the occasion of his
retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. John Teddy Holloway was born on October 21, 1944, in Greenwood, South
Carolina, and went on to serve with honor and pride as a Diving and Submarine
Medical Officer in the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Holloway has dedicated his career to caring for the sick and improving the
quality of life of his patients, and, in the course of this duty, he has
exhibited great kindness and indefatigable dedication to the citizens of Georgia
within his care; and
WHEREAS,
he has served as District Health Director for the Georgia Department of Human
Resources, Division of Public Health, Southeast Health Unit since 1974;
and
WHEREAS,
as District Health Director, he has used his great energy and expertise to
contribute in countless ways to the care and comfort of patients and their
families within the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
in his academic appointments at Mercer University School of Medicine, Satilla
Regional Medical Center, and the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Holloway has
shared his knowledge and experience with his colleagues and earned their
respect and admiration; and
WHEREAS,
he has served with distinction on the Georgia Task Force on AIDS, the Governor's
Council on Maternal and Infant Health, the Southeast Georgia Health System's
Agency, and the National Advisory Committee for Colleagues in Caring Project,
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and has been recognized by numerous honors and
awards; and
WHEREAS,
his many accomplishments testify to his strength of character, capable and
effective leadership, and his commitment to improving the quality of health care
received by his fellow citizens.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing Dr. John Teddy Holloway for his outstanding
contributions to the health and welfare of the citizens of Georgia during his 31
years as District Health Director and extend their sincere congratulations and
best wishes to both Dr. Holloway and his lovely wife, Mrs. Linda Rose Hale
Holloway, on the occasion of his retirement.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. John
Teddy Holloway.
