A
RESOLUTION
Remembering
and honoring the life of Archie Thomas "A.T." Mauldin; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Mauldin served his country with great honor as a member of the United States
Army Air Corps during World War II and served in the European Campaign for four
years, earning the Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster as well as six battle stars
and citations from the French and Belgian governments; and
WHEREAS,
in 1932, Mr. Mauldin settled in Franklin County where he was a much loved
teacher of vocational agriculture at Line, Lavonia, and Franklin County High
School until his retirement in 1964; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Mauldin zealously represented the 12th District in the General Assembly and
served on the Appropriations and Education Committees as well as the State
Vocational Educational Council and the Georgia Education Improvement Council,
using the expertise he gained from his successful teaching career to improve the
quality of education for Georgia's children; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Mauldin was a dedicated and active member of his community involved in
numerous civic organizations and a devoted family man with four grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia has lost one of its most distinguished statesmen with the
passing of Mr. Archie Thomas Mauldin.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mr.
Archie Thomas "A.T." Mauldin and extend their most sincere condolences to his
family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Archie Thomas Mauldin.
