RESOLUTION
Commending
Julie Edelson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Julie Edelson has served with distinction as the Director of Public Policy for
Planned Parenthood of Georgia for over 11 years; and
WHEREAS,
she has worked tirelessly to assist in the development and implementation of
progressive policies to women and families in Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
under her leadership the department has grown to have a state-wide presence; and
WHEREAS,
among other progressive health measures, she has been instrumental in helping
pass the prescriptive equity legislation and conversely in holding off for many
years legislation that was harmful to women in Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she has served courageously and diligently and has been a positive force in
bringing members of the legislature face-to-face with the challenges of creating
compassionate and fair-minded legislation to protect women's health;
and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting that this body acknowledge the contributions of Julie
Edelson.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Julie Edelson for her many years of service to Planned
Parenthood of Georgia, thank her for sharing her talents and insights, and hope
as she rejoins private citizenship that she will continue to be involved in
these important issues.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Julie
Edelson.
