A
RESOLUTION
Commemorating
the Sesquicentennial of the City of Hartwell; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
this year, Hartwell, Georgia, is proudly celebrating its sesquicentennial
anniversary, marking 150 years of proud heritage; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Hartwell, the county seat of Hart County, was incorporated by Act
No. 323 passed by the Georgia General Assembly in session at the state capital
in Milledgeville, Georgia on February 26, 1856; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Hartwell was named to honor the memory of Nancy Hart, a
Revolutionary War heroine from northeast Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the city has a rich heritage of significant accomplishments and outstanding
public service by its citizens to Hart County, the State of Georgia, and to the
United States of America; and
WHEREAS,
throughout its 150 years, the city has remained rightfully proud of the many
talented and dedicated men and women who have contributed substantially to the
progress and development of their community and its civic organizations;
and
WHEREAS,
the City of Hartwell is proudly honoring the achievements of the past 150 years
and during this Sesquicentennial Year of 2006, it is also looking forward to
even greater achievements in the future as the Gate City to the beautiful Lake
Hartwell region; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia has been very blessed to have this remarkable municipality
in its midst for 150 years, and therefore it is most appropriate that this body
recognize the City of
Hartwelĺs
Sesquicentennial Year and properly salute its history and its promise for the
future.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in celebrating and commemorating the 150th anniversary of the
City of Hartwell and in paying tribute to this great city and to those who have
worked and who continue to work for the betterment of its people.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the City of
Hartwell.
