RESOLUTION
Honoring
and remembering the life of Mr. Donald Homer "Tommy" Thompson; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Donald Homer "Tommy" Thompson was born on March 15, 1934, in Louisville,
Kentucky; and
WHEREAS,
he served his country with honor and courage as a naval aviator and a captain in
the United States Naval Reserve; and
WHEREAS,
this DeKalb County resident was a talented and accomplished mechanical engineer
and an active member of Holy Trinity Parish; and
WHEREAS,
he was a devoted and faithful husband to his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth "Betty"
Wicker Thompson, who is a designer for the Garden Club of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
he lovingly assisted her and cheered the ladies of the Garden Club in their many
endeavors and was himself a lifetime member of the Garden Club of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
he worked on the much enjoyed "Georgia on My Mind: Under the Gold Dome" flower
show, which began on January 24, 2005, at the State Capitol, before passing away
on Tuesday, January 25, 2005; and
WHEREAS,
with his passing, the State of Georgia has lost a much esteemed
citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mr. Donald
Homer "Tommy" Thompson and extend their most sincere condolences to his
family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs.
Elizabeth "Betty" Wicker Thompson.
