A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
and recognizing Mr. Fred D. Bentley Sr.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Fred D. Bentley, Sr., is an outstanding civil servant of the great State of
Georgia, serving three terms in the Georgia House of Representatives and one
term in the Georgia Senate; and
WHEREAS,
this native of Marietta, Georgia, and graduate of Marietta High School is a well
known and prominent lawyer and founder of his law firm Bentley, Bentley, and
Bentley, where he practices with his two exceptional sons, Fred Bentley, Jr.,
and Randall Bentley; and
WHEREAS,
in conducting business from his Cobb County office, he has represented his
community and his profession to the highest ideals; and
WHEREAS,
he has donated time and talent for countless civic, religious, historical, and
charitable organizations and has achieved the respect and admiration of his
colleagues, friends, and associates; and
WHEREAS,
with great generosity of spirit, Mr. and Mrs. Bentley have shared their
outstanding collection of art with numerous donations of fine examples of Early
American Art to Southern Polytechnic State University and other educational
institutions; and
WHEREAS,
these generous contributions will inspire and teach young people the value and
significance of art and history for generations to come through their exhibition
at the Southern Polytechnic State University Lawrence V. Johnson
Library.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that honor and
recognition be paid to this historian; this collector, guardian, and giver of
fine literature, art, and historical items of beauty and considerable
significance; and this civic and personal leader in our state, Mr. Fred D.
Bentley, Sr., and that it be given with our commendation and lasting
gratitude.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Fred D.
Bentley, Sr.
