RESOLUTION
Commending
the United States Capitol Police for their contributions to homeland security
and for their strict enforcement of security requirements at the United States
Capitol; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the United States Capitol Police serve with honor and distinction, protecting
the members of Congress, officers of the United States, and their families,
serving these individuals throughout the United States, its territories and
possessions, and throughout the District of Columbia; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished legacy began in 1828 when Congress created the United States
Capitol Police with its sole mission of providing security for the United States
Capitol Building.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the United States Capitol Police for their contributions to
homeland security and their strict enforcement of security requirements at the
United States Capitol, especially their requirement that all visitors go through
security, even members of Congress without proper identification.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the United
States Capitol Police.
