A RESOLUTION

Congratulating the Lavonia Woman's Club; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Lavonia Woman's Club recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS, this outstanding organization has grown from its humble beginnings in 1904 into one of the most respected educational and community service groups in Georgia; and

WHEREAS, under the guiding hand of its founders, this outstanding organization began a proud tradition at the first meeting held at the home of Mrs. W. W. Cornog that has established a glowing reputation throughout Georgia for its ability to raise educational standards and achieve extraordinary results such as the establishment of the Lavonia Carnegie Library; and

WHEREAS, this superlative association has dedicated itself to maintaining Lavonia as the Gem of the Piedmont and remains dedicated to the principles of teamwork, integrity, diligence, and responsibility; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of these dedicated women be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Lavonia Woman's Club on the occasion of its 100th anniversary, commend it for its many outstanding contributions on behalf of Lavonia and Georgia, and extend to it their best wishes for continued growth, development, and success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Lavonia Woman's Club.
