House Resolution 39

A RESOLUTION

Commending James H. Lowry, Jr., on the occasion of his 60th birthday; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, on January 19, 1945, James H. Lowry, Jr., was born to two loving parents, James H. Lowry, Sr., and Grace Marie Lowry; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Decatur High School in 1962, Dr. Lowry worked his way through college by loading freight, graduating from Asbury College in 1967, and then went on to attend Duke Divinity School and Asbury Theological Seminary where he received his Doctorate of Ministry; and

WHEREAS, during this time, he met the love of his life, Miss Diane Kilbourne, and married her on August 19, 1967, and, over the course of their more than three decades of blissful marriage, Dr. Lowry became the proud and devoted father of two outstanding children, Shannon Lea Lowry and Rebecca Joy Kandrick, and the grandfather of two beautiful grandchildren, Jake and Sara Kandrick; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lowry has dedicated his life to providing compassionate support and thoughtful guidance to the members of his community; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lowry has given extraordinary and gifted spiritual leadership in every pastoral appointment that he has served, including Hollydale United Methodist Church, Acworth United Methodist Church, McEachern United Methodist Church, and Norcross First United Methodist Church where he currently serves; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lowry has provided wise and faithful counsel to his associate pastors and staff members at Norcross First United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, by the example he has made of his life, he makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that he be appropriately recognized during this very memorable time of his life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
that the members of this body join in recognizing Dr. James H. Lowry, Jr., on this special milestone in his life, thank him for his devotion to his community and our state, and wish him and his lovely wife happiness and joy in the years to come.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. James H. Lowry, Jr.
