RESOLUTION
Commending
Sheriff Billy Carlisle of Dawson County; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Sheriff Billy Carlisle has received the 2004 Volunteer of the Year Award from
the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS,
Sheriff
Carlislés
decision to enter law enforcement reflects his deep desire to serve his
community; and
WHEREAS,
in addition to his duties as Dawson County Sheriff, Sheriff Carlisle serves as
chairman of the K-9 Task Force, is president of Dawson County Prevent Child
Abuse, secretary of the Georgia
Sheriff́s
Youth Home, vice president of Region Three Georgia
Sheriff'́s
Association, and is a member of the Child Fatality Review Panel and the American
Professional Society on Abuse of Children; and
WHEREAS,
Sheriff Carlisle also serves on the Dawson County Library Board, Dawson County
Family Connection Board, and Kare for Kids; and
WHEREAS,
during his tenure as sheriff, Billy Carlisle has promoted programs such as
Neighborhood Watch, Citizens Police Academy, Junior Police Academy, and the high
school age Explorers group; and
WHEREAS,
Sheriff Carlisle is especially committed to working with foster children and has
served as an officer of the Dawson County Foster Parent Association, and, in
addition, he and his wife are foster parents; and
WHEREAS,
Sheriff
Carlislés
recognition as Volunteer of the Year in Dawson County reflects his devotion to
public service and his strong desire to serve and improve his
community.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join to commend Sheriff Billy Carlisle of Dawson County and
congratulate him upon receiving this special honor.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Sheriff Billy
Carlisle.
