RESOLUTION
Commending
Georgia Perimeter College on the groundbreaking of its new student center; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
40 years ago, DeKalb College, now Georgia Perimeter College, was founded in
Clarkston with the timeless mission of providing unparalleled access to quality
and affordable education; and
WHEREAS,
during the occasion of this milestone anniversary year, the Georgia Perimeter
College, Clarkston Campus, will break ground on a new student center;
and
WHEREAS,
the center will serve students, faculty, and staff of Georgia Perimeter College
as a one-stop-shop for integrated services; and
WHEREAS,
it will provide meeting venues and office space for the college's 30 student
organizations, which represent a diverse body of 6,000 students from 140
countries; and
WHEREAS,
the student center also will serve as a portal to an array of college services
including advising and counseling, admissions, enrollment and registration,
student life, student accounts, and financial aid; and
WHEREAS,
the new student center will include a Community Conference Center, reflective of
Georgia Perimeter College's on-going commitment to DeKalb County and greater
metro Atlanta; and
WHEREAS,
the student center and conference center will provide a positive impact on the
area's economic development; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Perimeter College Student Center and Community Conference Center
will honor the dedication of the college's past, present, and future students;
and
WHEREAS, the Georgia Perimeter College Student Center and Community Conference Center will serve as a shining example of an education, community, and economic success story.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize Georgia Perimeter College for its enduring commitment and
continued service to Atlanta and the Southeast region of the United
States.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Georgia
Perimeter College.
