RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Judge Del Buttrill and inviting him to appear before the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Judge Buttrill has served Henry County as a Probate Judge since January 29,
1982, and during this time, has been noted as a dedicated, highly talented, and
innovative judge, instituting the first early-release work program, the first
Impact Panel for D.U.I. offenders in the area, and serving as President of the
Council of Probate Judges of Georgia in 2001, accomplishments which have been
recognized by numerous honors and awards; and
WHEREAS,
his generous spirit and commitment to his fellow man have been displayed in his
many outstanding contributions to his community such as organizing the Henry
County Council on Aging, improving services vital to seniors, and organizing "A
Friend's House," which has been a safe haven for countless abused children
since it opened in 1998; and
WHEREAS,
Judge Del Buttrill is a faithful and active member of Salem Baptist Church;
and
WHEREAS,
Judge Buttrill is a lover of the arts and is an extraordinarily gifted artist
whose paintings of Henry County landmarks are displayed within the community;
and
WHEREAS,
he is a devoted husband to Mrs. Ethel McGee Buttrill, a beloved father to his
sons, Chip and David, and a wonderful grandfather to his five beautiful
grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
by the example he has made of his life, Judge Del Buttrill makes this world a
better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that he be
appropriately recognized as one of Georgia's most distinguished citizens and
public servants.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing and commending Judge Del Buttrill for his
honorable service to his community and the citizens of the State of
Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Judge Del Buttrill is invited to the House of Representatives for purposes of being recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution at a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House.
