RESOLUTION
Commending
the East Hall High School basketball team, Class AA State Champions, and Head
Coach Joe Dix; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
scoring an average of 95.2 points per game in the state tournament, the East
Hall High School basketball team defeated Greenville High School 99-67 at the
Macon Coliseum to capture the Class AA State Championship; and
WHEREAS,
five East Hall players finished the game in double digits with 12 Vikings
scoring during the contest to bring home East Hall's third state title in the
last five years; and
WHEREAS,
under the excellent guidance of first-year head coach Joe Dix, the Vikings
finished the season with an amazing record of 31-1, beating two nationally
ranked teams in their quest to win the prestigious Roundball Classic in
December; and
WHEREAS,
2005 senior class Vikings boast a 117-9 four-year record, winning two state
titles and appearing in three state championships and contributing to East
Hall's 186-14 record since January, 1999, the best in Georgia High School
Association History during that time; and
WHEREAS,
the Gainesville community and the State of Georgia take great pride in the
outstanding accomplishments of these fine young champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in commending the members of the East Hall High School basketball
team and their Head Coach Joe Dix for a magnificent performance during this
memorable season.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the East Hall
High School basketball team.
