RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Hephzibah High School, winner of the 2004 Class AAAA Governor's
Cup and inviting its students, parents, teachers, and administrators to appear
before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Governor's Cup recognizes high schools demonstrating academic excellence
through their performance on the SAT, and winners are selected based on the
improvement of the senior class's average SAT score between the current and
previous years; and
WHEREAS,
Governor Sonny Perdue established the Governor's Cup to boost improvement in SAT
scores, highlight effective models and strategies for elevating student
performance on the SAT, and celebrate the success of high achieving schools; and
WHEREAS,
the students of Hephzibah High School have made a 111.3 point improvement on
their average SAT score from 2003; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of this exemplary performance, Hephzibah High School has been
named the 2004 Class AAAA Governor's Cup award winner, receiving a $2,000 grant
and tickets to a home game of the Atlanta Braves; and
WHEREAS,
their achievement stands as a shining example of the important impact that the
collaborative efforts of individual teachers and administrators along with
bright and focused students and their parents can make on the quality of
education received by the children of this state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing and commending the students, parents, teachers,
and administrators of Hephzibah High School, winners of the 2004 Class AAAA
Governor's Cup, and extend to them sincere best wishes for their continued
success.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the students, parents, teachers, and administrators of
Hephzibah High School are invited to appear before the House of Representatives
for purposes of being recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy
of this resolution at a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House.
