RESOLUTION
Commending
Pastor Sammie Gordon, Sr. for over 40 years of faithful service; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Pastor Sammie Gordon, Sr. was called to preach his trial sermon on the second
Sunday of March, 1960, at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS,
he was ordained on the third Sunday of June, 1961; and
WHEREAS,
in May, 1962, he was called to pastor the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Savannah,
Georgia, where he continues to serve; and
WHEREAS,
in May, 1963, Pastor Gordon was called to the Mill Creek Baptist Church in
Ellabell, Georgia, where he served until May, 2003; and
WHEREAS,
in July, 1976, he was called to the Saint James Baptist Church in Ludowici,
Georgia, where he served until September, 1992; and
WHEREAS,
Pastor Sammie Gordon, Sr., has been a leader in his church and the community and
his leadership has resulted in tremendous advances in his congregations and the
surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS,
he has played a vital role in meeting the spiritual, educational, cultural,
physical, and organizational needs of his congregations and the surrounding
communities.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Pastor Sammie Gordon, Sr., for over 40 years of outstanding
service and tireless attention to the spiritual and temporal lives of his
parishioners.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Pastor Sammie
Gordon, Sr.
