RESOLUTION
Commending
the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and recognizing "PAGE
Day on Capitol Hill" and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) is the
statés
largest organization for professional educators with more than 60,000 members
who are teachers, administrators, and school support personnel employed in every
school system in Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the Professional Association of Georgia Educators was founded in the
1970́s
with the mission to make Georgia a better place for students to learn and for
teachers to teach; and
WHEREAS,
the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, through its PAGE Foundation,
has for many years sponsored programs of academic excellence for the students of
our state including the Academic Bowl for Middle Grades, the Georgia Academic
Decathlon for high school students, and STAR, the Student and Teacher
Achievement Recognition program; and
WHEREAS,
the Professional Association of Georgia Educators has worked for many years to
promote teaching as a profession by sponsoring local chapters of the Future
Georgia Educators in middle and high schools across the state and sponsoring
chapters of the student PAGE groups - SPAGE - on the campuses of colleges and
universities throughout Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the Professional Association of Georgia Educators actively participates in the
legislative process each year, working to improve education and student
achievement while promoting a positive and professional working relationship
with the men and women who come to this General Assembly representing every
legislative district in the state;
and
WHEREAS, today, many local leaders, members of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, are here at the Capitol meeting with their local delegations and participating in the legislative process; and

WHEREAS,
today, the 8th of February, 2005, is
PAGÉs
"Day on Capitol Hill."
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body
gratefully recognizes and commends the Professional Association of Georgia
Educators as the
statés
largest independent organization for professional educators and celebrates their
contribution to education and to educators through the years and salutes their
members and their leadership and recognizes February 8, 2005, as "PAGE Day on
Capitol Hill."
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to PAGE.
