House Resolution 779

A RESOLUTION

Commending Dr. Harlon Crimm; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, in 1983 Dr. Harlon Crimm became president of Chattahoochee Technical College; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Crimm has guided Chattahoochee Technical College to the point that it has become one of the leading schools of its type in the country, and it was the first technical college in Georgia to receive accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Crimm has led the expansion of Chattahoochee Technical College from one to four campuses in Cobb and Paulding counties; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Crimm also has contributed to the Cobb County community and the enrichment of the day-to-day lives of its citizens by his many civic and community activities; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Crimm has encouraged many qualified women by affording them opportunities to serve in leadership positions at Chattahoochee Technical College where 25 of the 42 administrative leadership positions are held by women including three women holding the position of vice president; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Crimm was awarded the 2005 Cobb Executive Women "Glass Ceiling Award" for his achievements in working for and encouraging women to succeed in leadership positions at Chattahoochee Technical College; and

WHEREAS, through his many professional and civic achievements Dr. Crimm has helped to make Cobb County a better place for all its citizens to live.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body commends Dr. Harlon Crimm on the occasion of his receiving the "Glass Ceiling Award" and for his other outstanding service to his school and community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Dr. Harlon Crimm is encouraged to remain involved in his community and civic activities and that it is hoped that he will find many other areas in which he can participate to better his community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Harlon Crimm.
