A
RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of Jimmie R. Andrews; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on December 21, 2004, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most
distinguished citizens with the tragic and untimely passing of Jimmie R.
Andrews; and
WHEREAS,
this exceptional individual exhibited outstanding leadership in all of his life,
including his service to this state as chief of police of Lavonia from 1960 to
1964, chief probation officer of the Northern Judicial Circuit from 1964 to
1967, sheriff of Franklin County from 1968 to 1976, and chief parole officer for
the State of Georgia from 1979 to 1994, having been the youngest chief of
police, probation officer, and sheriff to serve in the state during his tenures;
and
WHEREAS,
his unparalleled organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his acute sensitivity to the needs
of the citizens of his community and state earned him the respect and admiration
of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
the untimely passing of this generous, kind, and devoted man leaves an
unfillable void in the hearts and lives of his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of Jimmie
R. Andrews.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Jimmie R. Andrews.
