RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. Sherwin Glass; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Sherwin Glass is one of Georgia's most distinguished citizens and has gained
a stellar reputation as a businessman, philanthropist, devoted family man, and
true lover of America and the American dream; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Glass is the founder of Farmers Furniture Company, which has evolved from
one small store in Soperton to 85 stores throughout Georgia and 150 in five
southeastern states, employing over 1,600 people; and
WHEREAS,
throughout his career, he has always adhered to the highest standards of
business conduct, consistently displaying great energy, business acumen, and
dedication to the improvement of his community and the livelihood of his fellow
man; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Glass has received numerous awards during his years of service to the Jewish
and business communities, including the Jewish Federation Lifetime Achievement
Award, the Abe Goldstein Human Relations Award, and recognition from Habitat for
Humanity and Women in Need of God's Shelter; and
WHEREAS,
respected and admired by all who know him, Mr. Glass has always been a true
friend to those in need and has improved the quality of life for countless
individuals and families.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending Mr. Sherwin Glass for his lifetime of faithful service to his
community and thank him for his many contributions to Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Sherwin Glass.
