Senate Resolution 105

A RESOLUTION

Commending and congratulating Coach Charles Cooper; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Coach Charles Cooper is dedicated to inspiring his players to achieve excellence both on and off the basketball court; and

WHEREAS, Coach Cooper came out of retirement from Valdosta State University to take over the women´s basketball program at Piedmont College, and, under his leadership, the 2001-2002 women´s team won the school´s first Great South Athletic Conference Championship; and

WHEREAS, Valdosta State University won two Gulf South Conference titles and made it to the NCAA Division II Final Four during his 13 year tenure as Head Coach; and

WHEREAS, under his guidance, the girls basketball team at Lowndes High School won four straight Georgia High School Association AAAA state championships, had a winning streak of 124 consecutive games, and was selected as National Champion on four occasions; and

WHEREAS, Coach Cooper is one of Georgia´s winningest coaches and has reached a monumental milestone of 1,000 career wins with his eighth Piedmont team.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
commend Coach Charles Cooper for his great enthusiasm and exceptional dedication to the many young athletes he has coached over the years and congratulate him on his milestone 1,000th career win.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Charles Cooper, Piedmont College.
