RESOLUTION
Congratulating
Mrs. Ruby Hickox Strickland on the occasion of her 90th birthday; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
on February 21, 2006, Mrs. Ruby Hickox Strickland celebrated the very impressive
milestone of her 90th birthday; and
WHEREAS,
she was born in 1916 in Folkston, Georgia, to Daniel Webster Hickox and Lillian
Lynn Hickox; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Strickland has watched the world change dramatically over the course of her
lifetime and has contributed to its progress by her own hard work and good
citizenship; and
WHEREAS,
as a daughter, mother, wife, friend, and in any of the countless other roles she
has played in her lifetime, this remarkable lady has touched so many lives with
her generosity, compassion, and sweet and loving spirit; and
WHEREAS,
by the example she has made of her life, Mrs. Strickland makes this world a
better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be
appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of her
life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body express
their congratulations and best wishes to one of our state's most honorable
citizens, Mrs. Ruby Hickox Strickland, on the happy event of her 90th birthday
and thank her for all her many contributions to Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Ruby Hickox
Strickland.
