A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Ms. Esther Perkins-Frazier for her service to her church and community; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Esther Perkins-Frazier is a woman of great honor, courage, strength, and truth who has tirelessly served her church and her community; and

WHEREAS, her work has touched people around the globe, but she has especially made a significant and lasting impact on those to whom she ministers in the local community; and

WHEREAS, she serves as an ardent member of the St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church in Savannah, Georgia, where she holds the positions of Director of Music, Executive Director of the Share the Harvest Community Food Pantry and Clothes Closet, the Next Level Literacy Tutorial Center, and Operations Manager of Anointed Publications bookstore; and

WHEREAS, she is a well-known professional gospel and jazz recording artist with Serenity Records and is regarded throughout the gospel music world as one of today's most passionately energetic gospel divas; and

WHEREAS, she has been a member, associate director, and a composer for the Grammy nominated Savannah Community Choir with whom she has appeared on 11 nationally distributed albums as a featured lead vocalist, arranger, and composer; and

WHEREAS, she is a graduate of Parent University and a current board member of the Community Healthcare Center; and

WHEREAS, as a devoted advocate for all children within the Savannah, Chatham County, and coastal Georgia community, Ms. Perkins-Frazier works as a class mother and a substitute teacher at Robert W. Gadsden Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, because of her heroism in outreach ministry and her significant contribution to the growth and development of the many local children she has guided and tutored, she has twice captured the WTOC-TV Community Spirit award and has been featured in the internationally distributed Rolling Out Magazine; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is honored and proud to have such a fine lady as one of its citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in recognizing and commending Ms. Esther Perkins-Frazier for her outstanding contributions to her church, her community, and the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Esther Perkins-Frazier.
