A RESOLUTION

Commending AFLAC Incorporated and declaring November 17, 2005, "AFLAC Day" in the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, brothers John, Paul, and Bill Amos founded AFLAC Incorporated in 1955, with its first operation in a small, six-room, rented complex in the Swift Building in downtown Columbus; and

WHEREAS, AFLAC, a Fortune 200 company, is today recognized in the State of Georgia, across the nation, and around the world as a leader in the financial services/insurance industry insuring over 40 million people and having over $53 billion in assets; and

WHEREAS, AFLAC has grown to become one of the nation's best-known and admired brands; and

WHEREAS, AFLAC has provided thousands of jobs for Columbus and the state, contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to the state's economy; and

WHEREAS, AFLAC has continued to uphold its promise to always be there for our policyholders when life's medical emergencies happen; and

WHEREAS, the great State of Georgia is very grateful to AFLAC and the vision the Amos brothers had 50 years ago. We look forward to AFLAC's next 50 years of new product innovations, continued outstanding customer service, and financial success that has made it not just one of Georgia's best companies, but has made AFLAC a worldwide leader in the insurance industry.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in commending AFLAC Incorporated for its responsible leadership and its commitment to the citizens of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate declares November 17, 2005, "AFLAC Day" in the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to AFLAC Incorporated.
