RESOLUTION
Commending
and expressing gratitude to Action Ministries, Inc.; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Action Ministries, Inc. has served Georgia families and individuals in desperate
need for 42 years; and
WHEREAS,
Action Ministries, Inc. is an affiliated ministry of the North Georgia
Conference of the United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS,
Action Ministries, Inc. lives its mission of providing help and hope for the
hurting through Atlanta Urban Ministries, Augusta Urban Ministries, Athens Urban
Ministries, Gainesville Action Ministries, and Rome Action Ministries;
and
WHEREAS,
these local ministries serve their respective communities with feeding programs,
emergency assistance, children´s programs, and life skills training;
and
WHEREAS,
Action Ministries, Inc. also operates Breakthru House in Decatur, a residential
drug addiction treatment center that helps women overcome substance abuse and
regain control of their lives; and
WHEREAS,
Action Ministries, Inc. helps homeless families get back on their feet through
the housing and case management program of Family Transitional Ministries, as
well as AM Outreach Ministries which serve families with an HIV-positive family
member; and
WHEREAS,
Action Ministries, Inc. touches more than 38,756 lives a year across North
Georgia by offering practical help with compassion that communicates God´s
love in a profound way; and
WHEREAS,
Action Ministries, Inc. engages more than 5,278 volunteers in efforts to help
people who live in their communities;
and
WHEREAS, Action Ministries, Inc. effectively partners with local agencies and other organizations to maximize the impact of philanthropic and public funds in serving needy families and individuals.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that this body hereby commends and
thanks Action Ministries, Inc. for making a positive difference for thousands of
Georgians, helping them overcome extraordinary difficulties and make a fresh
start.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Board of Directors of
Action Ministries, Inc. and to Lindsey Davis, Bishop of the North Georgia
Conference of the United Methodist Church.
