A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Ashlin Reid; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, 4-H Clubs of Georgia provide a unique educational opportunity for students from nine to 19 years of age to learn valuable lessons outside the classroom and offer some 55 project areas in which students can develop expertise and compete with one another; and

WHEREAS, Georgia´s 4-H programs are coordinated by the Cooperative Extension Service of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and this service is the major university outreach program focusing on the youth of this state; and

WHEREAS, Ashlin Reid of Bulloch County is an outstanding member of 4-H and is the winner of the prestigious National 4-H Beekeeping Essay Contest, sponsored by the Foundation for the Preservation of Honey Bees; and

WHEREAS, Ashlin Reid submitted the best essay of 17 state winners from across the United States, and her essay is being offered to state beekeeper's associations for publication in their association newsletters; and

WHEREAS, Ashlin Reid is an outstanding representative of the dynamic resource this state has in its young people.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Ashlin Reid as winner of the National 4-H Beekeeping Essay Contest and for this outstanding 4-H member´s dedication to the principles of 4-H programs.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ashlin Reid.
