RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dorothy McGowan for outstanding contributions to public education
in the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. McGowan is a highly respected educator in the Muscogee County School System;
and
WHEREAS,
Ms. McGowan's talent as a teacher is most evident in the fond regard of her
fellow teachers, superiors, parents, and especially her students;
and
WHEREAS,
the contributions and achievements of Ms. McGowan have been recognized by her
selection as Teacher of the Year for Benning Hills Elementary School;
and
WHEREAS,
nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young
people, and Ms. McGowan exemplifies the selfless dedication which is
characteristic of our finest educators; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. McGowan stands as a shining example of the important impact that the efforts
of individual classroom teachers are making on the quality of education received
by the children of this state, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that her
superlative accomplishments be recognized appropriately.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that this body hereby recognizes and
commends Ms. Dorothy McGowan; extends its congratulations upon her selection as
a 2005 Teacher of the Year; and expresses its gratitude for the great credit
this outstanding educator reflects upon her school and school system and the
State of Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Dorothy McGowan.
