RESOLUTION
Commending
the United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County sponsors and promotes the Martin
Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration and March; and
WHEREAS,
this is an annual event which has become an important tradition within the
Lawrenceville community and which helps to educate the children of Gwinnett
County about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the important role of
diversity within society; and
WHEREAS,
the members of the United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County are enthusiastic and
effective advocates for many causes important to the Gwinnett community and have
worked tirelessly to promote those issues central to eliminating discrimination
from society and protecting the civil rights of all its citizens;
and
WHEREAS,
as the population of the State of Georgia is becoming increasingly rich in its
diversity, it is highly appropriate that the members of this body recognize the
United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County for their zeal in pursuing and securing
for future generations the dream first articulated by Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending the United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County for their intelligent,
articulate, and effective leadership and their many contributions to the
Gwinnett community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the United Ebony Society
of Gwinnett County.
