RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. James Griffin, Jr.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. James Griffin, Jr., is a licensed funeral director and owner and manager of
Poteat Funeral Home in Albany, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
this Dougherty County native is a veteran of the United States Army who served
his country with honor and courage; and
WHEREAS,
he has served in numerous leadership positions in Albany, Dougherty County, and
the State of Georgia and is a member of the Funeral Practitioners Association,
Inc., where he serves as Treasurer and former Chairman of the Fourth District;
Treasurer Emeritus and Executive Board Member of Georgia Funeral Service
Practitioners Association, Inc.; and a member of the National Funeral Directors
and Morticians Association, Inc.; and
WHEREAS,
he is a life member of the NAACP, an original member of the Martin Luther King,
Jr., Georgia Holiday Commission, and the first African American to be appointed
to the Board of Tax Assessors in Dougherty County; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his valuable contributions and professional excellence, Mr.
James Griffin, Jr., has been named the 2004 Mortician of the Year Fourth
District.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending Mr. James Griffin, Jr., for his outstanding service to the Dougherty
County community and the State of Georgia and congratulate him on being selected
as the 2004 Mortician of the Year Fourth District.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. James Griffin, Jr.
