RESOLUTION
Remembering
and honoring the life of Mr. Benjamin Moore; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Benjamin Moore was born to Mr. and Mrs. Willie Huff Moore on September 3, 1919,
in Bolingbroke, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Benjamin Moore was a graduate of the historic Booker T. Washington High School
in Atlanta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Benjamin Moore was employed with the Ford Motor Company in Hapeville,
Georgia, where he had a full career which began with helping in the construction
of the Hapeville Assembly Plant, then becoming the first employee hired at the
plant as a custodian, and finally rising to become the first African American to
work on the plant assembly line; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Moore retired from the Ford Motor Company, where he was known by his friends
as "Ben Moore," as a plant parts supplier in 1985 with more than 37 years of
service; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Benjamin Moore was a resident of the City of Atlanta for more than 60 years
who loved outdoor work, maintained an immaculate lawn, and was an avid Atlanta
Braves fan; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Benjamin Moore leaves behind his loving wife, Lillie Hart Moore, and devoted
family, including his sons Benjamin, Jr., Lawrence, and Henderson and his
grandchildren Benjamin III, Denise, Lawrence, Jr., Eric, Tomeica, and Henderson,
Jr.; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia has lost a most estimable citizen with the passing of Mr.
Benjamin Moore.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join
together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mr. Benjamin Moore
and extend their most sincere condolences to his family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Lillie Hart Moore and
family.
