A RESOLUTION

Commending the Partnership for Health and Accountability; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Partnership for Health and Accountability was established in January, 2000, in an effort to bring together hospitals, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, pharmaceutical manufacturers, the business community, policy leaders, and consumers to share data, resources, and expertise to ensure quality care and patient safety; and

WHEREAS, the Partnership for Health and Accountability is recognized nationally for its leadership in improving quality of care and patient safety and has been the model for other states; and

WHEREAS, this Partnership provides a forum of discussion and advocacy for data-driven public policy that promotes the use of clinical evidence-based best practices, coordination of care, expansion of health care coverage, and access to health services; and

WHEREAS, the four major components used by the Partnership to support its goals are community involvement, data analysis, reports, and a continuous improvement framework; and

WHEREAS, as one preventable patient error is one too many, consumers, providers, and the community must work together and be responsible for making improvements in health care; and

WHEREAS, Habersham County Medical Center of Demorest, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation of Warm Springs, Hamilton Medical Center of Dalton, Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta, Floyd Medical Center of Rome, Emory Healthcare of Atlanta, and West Georgia Medical Center of LaGrange have received awards for their outstanding leadership and innovation in quality care and patient safety.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Partnership for Health and Accountability and Habersham County Medical Center of Demorest, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation of Warm Springs, Hamilton Medical Center of Dalton, Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta, Floyd Medical Center of Rome, Emory Healthcare of Atlanta, and West Georgia Medical Center of LaGrange for the exceptional advances they have made in quality of care and patient safety.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the Partnership for Health and Accountability and Habersham County Medical Center of Demorest, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation of Warm Springs, Hamilton Medical Center of Dalton, Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta, Floyd Medical Center of Rome, Emory Healthcare of Atlanta, and West Georgia Medical Center of LaGrange.
