Senate Resolution 83

A RESOLUTION

Congratulating the 2004 Greenbrier High School Softball Team, winners of the Class AAAA State Championship; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, with the support of its fans and the guidance of Coaches Garrett Black, Mark Moseley, Ed Williams, Alex Box, and Laura Paulos, the Greenbrier High School Softball Team has captured the 2004 Class AAAA State Softball Championship to finish the season with an outstanding record of 35 wins, five losses, and one tie, the best in school history; and

WHEREAS, these victories were the culmination of a season of hard work, exemplary sportsmanship, and exceptional teamwork among this close-knit group of outstanding young ladies, including Kayla Adams, Bethany Anderson, Kassie Bailey, Tiffany Blackburn, Jessica Borum, Stephanie Brice, Robyn Butler, Ashe Florie, Mallory Givens, Amanda Glover, Brittany Leverett, Vicki Mazur, Courtney McCladdie, Kristi Nichols, Tiffany Nichols, Sara Oland, Britney Reeves, Kayla Thurmond, Laura Tracy, Meagan Weathers, and Kristan Glover, who has been named the 2004 Class AAAA Pitcher of the Year and is only the fourth high school pitcher nationally to reach 100 wins and 1,000 strikeouts; and

WHEREAS, with exceptional talent and dedication, this team has set a fine example as the first women's high school team to secure a state championship in the history of Columbia County; and

WHEREAS, the Columbia County community and the State of Georgia take great pride in the accomplishments of these fine young champions and the leadership of Coach Garrett Black, the 2004 Class AAAA Coach of the Year.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in congratulating the 2004 Class AAAA State Champion Greenbrier High School Softball Team on an amazing season.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Greenbrier High School Softball Team.
