RESOLUTION
Commending
Larry Risse; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Larry Risse has provided invaluable leadership to the Clarke-Oconee
Cattleman’s Association as president and member of the board of directors;
and
WHEREAS,
during his tenure as president, the Clarke-Oconee chapter was honored as Chapter
of the Year in recognition of programs encouraging the interest of the
county’s youth in agriculture, including the annual Clarke-Oconee
Cattleman’s Association Junior Livestock Expo and a scholarship for
students entering college to study agriculture; and
WHEREAS,
his encouragement of Oconee County’s youth has been evident through his
support for the 4-H Club and the Future Farmers of America, as well as his vital
role in establishing an agribusiness committee within the Oconee County Chamber
of Commerce, which sponsors Third Grade Ag Day, allowing all third grade
students in the county to meet with area farmers, foresters, water resource
managers, and others, along with farm livestock; and
WHEREAS,
he was named Chamber Volunteer of the Year for 2004 in recognition of his
leadership as a director and committee chair and with the agribusiness
committee; and
WHEREAS,
his active involvement with research, using his farm to help determine the
agricultural impact on water quality and for research on pastures and beef
cattle, is another indication of his exemplary community service;
and
WHEREAS,
he’s a leader who can be depended upon to get things done, and his energy,
knowledge, and innovative ideas have inspired all who know him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Larry Risse as an exemplary community
leader.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Larry Risse.
