A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Bradley Benson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Bradley Benson was born on January 29, 1993, eight weeks and three days before
his anticipated birth date, and at birth Bradley was diagnosed with Amniotic
Band Syndrome, a rare condition caused when fibers break loose during gestation
and wrap around the developing baby´s limbs; and
WHEREAS,
because Bradley was born without a portion of one leg and was missing several
fingers and toes, he has undergone several surgeries and hundreds of hours of
therapy, and continues weekly therapy at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to
strengthen his leg muscles and improve his gait; and
WHEREAS,
Children´s Miracle Network, an alliance of premier children´s
hospitals, spotlights the heroic battles of children with illnesses and
injuries, and Bradley will represent Georgia during the Foresters Champions
Across America program, where he will share his experiences with others;
and
WHEREAS,
Bradley is the son of Lisa Benson and the older brother of Dustin and Kaitlin,
and with his family´s support he has always demonstrated a positive
attitude in the face of a difficult medical condition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
and commend Bradley Benson for his spunk and courage in the face of adversity
and wish him well in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bradley Benson.
