A
RESOLUTION
Remembering
and honoring the life of Doris Avery Greene Mullis; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
on November 5, 1927, Doris Avery Greene Mullis was born to loving parents
Reverend Gordon Lee and Eunice Graham Greene in LaFayette, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
as a lifelong resident of Walker County, she was an active member of the
LaFayette and Chickamauga communities and a devoted member of the First Baptist
Church of Chickamauga and the Chickamauga American Legion Ladies Auxiliary;
and
WHEREAS,
her participation on the Cherokee Library Board and her service as President of
the Chickamauga Public Schools Parent Teacher Association, Homeroom Mom, Patrol
Mom, and Choir Mom at the First Baptist Church are a testament to her untiring
dedication to her own children and to the education and welfare of the youth in
her community; and
WHEREAS,
she was an employee of Crystal Springs Mill and is fondly remembered by
countless students whose lives she touched as a teacher at Osburn Elementary and
a substitute teacher for Chickamauga City Schools; and
WHEREAS,
her generous spirit and great compassion were also displayed in her many years
of dedication and hard work as a case manager for the Developmental Disabilities
area of the Lookout Mountain Community Services; and
WHEREAS,
she imparted to generations of descendants, including her beloved sons, Jeff and
Jerry Mullis; five precious grandchildren, Amanda, Emily, Gregory, Jonathan, and
Justin; and one beautiful great-grandchild, Kierstin, her knowledge and wisdom
and taught them the values that served her so well; and
WHEREAS,
this devoted mother and wife has gone to join the husband she loved so well, Mr.
Henry E. "Gene" Mullis, and her daughter, Lorie Gene Mullis; and
WHEREAS,
by the example she made of her life, she made this world a better place in which
to live, and the State of Georgia, its citizens, and the members of this body
have been greatly moved and saddened at the passing of this gracious and
esteemed lady.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join
together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mrs. Doris A. Mullis
and extend their most sincere condolences to each and every member of her
family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mrs. Doris
A. Mullis.
