RESOLUTION
Honoring
Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Herring on the occasion of their 70th wedding
anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
70 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Herring were joined in marriage;
and
WHEREAS,
they have been pillars of the community and active members in the First United
Baptist Church of Vidalia; and
WHEREAS,
this loving couple was recognized by the Downtown Vidalia Association as the
longest married couple in the Toombs and Montgomery County area in 2001;
and
WHEREAS,
throughout 70 years of triumph, joy, disappointment, and quiet routine, their
love and devotion for each other has remained strong, and
WHEREAS,
in 2005, this miraculous couple is celebrating their 70th year of holy
matrimony; and
WHEREAS,
this fine couple has demonstrated exceptional commitment to their community and
state and, through their love and commitment to each other, have been an
excellent example to young couples in their community.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
and congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Herring on their celebration of 70
wonderful years of marriage and extend sincere wishes for many more happy years
together.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Richard S.
Herring.
