BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Part 6 of Article 7 of Chapter 3 of Title 20 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, relating to medical scholarships, so as to provide for the
establishment of the State Medical Education Board Loan Repayment and
Scholarship Trust Fund; to provide for receipts and expenditures from such fund;
to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Part
6 of Article 7 of Chapter 3 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to medical scholarships, is amended by adding a new Code
section to the end of such part to read as follows:
"20-3-518.1.
The
State Medical Education Board Loan Repayment and Scholarship Trust Fund is
hereby created. All receipts of payments collected pursuant to this part from
loan and scholarship recipients who have defaulted on their obligations shall be
paid into such trust fund. Only the State Medical Education Board or its
designee shall be authorized to make expenditures from the trust fund. Any such
expenditures shall be made solely for the award of further loans or scholarships
pursuant to this part. Funds remaining in the trust fund at the end of any
fiscal year shall not
lapse."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
