House Resolution 1049

A RESOLUTION


Honoring and remembering the life of Charles Edward Bradshaw, Sr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Charles Edward Bradshaw, Sr., was born in Darlington, South Carolina, on November 5, 1923; and

WHEREAS, he attended schools in Darlington until joining the United States Army, where he served from 1943 until 1946 in Europe; and

WHEREAS, being a highly motivated and intelligent young man, after his discharge he moved to Franklin Springs, Georgia, to attend Emmanuel College where he completed his associate degree in 1950; and he went on to graduate from High Point College in North Carolina in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in history; and

WHEREAS, after graduation he accepted a job as Dean of Men and instructor at Emmanuel College, where he served from 1952 until 1955; and

WHEREAS, in 1955, he became the superintendent of Falcon Children's Home in Falcon, North Carolina, and served there until 1962, and as superintendent, Mr. Bradshaw built several children's homes; and

WHEREAS, in 1961, Mr. Bradshaw returned to Franklin Springs to be the general administrator of Advocate Press until 1973 and again from 1977 to 1991; and

WHEREAS, he lived in Franklin Springs for 30 years, was Chairman of Emmanuel College Board of Education for 22 years, and General Secretary of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church for four years, and he was also an ordained minister; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bradshaw was blessed with a wife of 64 years and with a son and four beautiful daughters.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Charles Edward Bradshaw and extend their most sincere condolences to his family.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the wife of Charles Edward Bradshaw, Sr., Ms. Evelyn Harrelson Bradshaw.
